nursery inspiration.

Inspiration photos borrowed from others is not typically a precedent I'd like to set on this blog...not sure why I am opening with this sentence. But lately, our October baby's nursery has been on our minds, as has a certain someone's first birthday. We have many projects to accomplish in the next two months, and putting together a nursery in that short time frame is proving to be challenging. We worked on Elliott's room as soon as we found out he was a boy, and even though we've thought about Sweet P's room, we haven't put any plans into action until last weekend.

It's weird to see how these kids rooms evolve. You pick some colors and away you go! I'd thought I wanted pea green or chartreuse walls with white furniture, black & white linens, and raspberry & peachy accents. The wall color is now proving to be difficult, so we are considering moving away from bright walls and going with a more neutral gray, a fun geometric print mural, and black & white, bright green, raspberry, and coral-peach accessories. Maybe it's a bit wild, but I firmly believe it could be awesome. We'll see.

If you follow me on Instagram you'd know we got some furniture from Ikea this week...

We still have a way to go, painting the walls and stenciling a geometric pattern onto the wall. Buying sheets & a changing pad, wall art, accessories. Let's not forget that Sweet P also needs her own vintage record player like big brother. There's a floor lamp from Lowe's we actually love & plan to get. Here's a few items I've pinned to keep the inspiration fresh:

The closing thoughts? Throwing a little girl's room together in two months is not that easy. You can go over the top pink and generic baby if you're not careful. I so looked forward to doing a cute little girl's room and it is quickly becoming the most challenging design project in our house to date! We are feeling the pressure to finish it it some capacity in time for Elliott's first birthday, and also, finished completely before baby girl makes her arrival. But how fun it is, finally being given the chance to do something girly! I'll post completed photos soon.

Happy Sunday!

  1. Have fun with the room designs! I am in the process of re-doing our bedroom situation as well, as I am also expecting baby #2 in October! Good luck:)
